The National Retail Association’s (NRA) Rewards for Excellence nominations are closing in just under 4 weeks’ time.

This awards program, and in particular the Medium Retailer of the Year award, offers companies not only recognition as being a leader within their industry, but also an opportunity to reflect upon business practices, motivate and celebrate employees as well as being publicly positioned as a trusted brand.
Nextra general manager Shannon Hickey recently spoke with us about the opportunities nominating affords a business.
“My family has been involved in retail for over 46 years with 33 here at Westfield Chermside and has seen some monumental changes in this time. In writing the NRA submission it gave us time to reflect on who we are and why we do certain things. I enjoyed looking back, not only over the past twelve months, but our entire time here in the Centre.”
Taking away the 2015 Medium Retailer of the Year, Hickey discussed what winning meant to Nextra.
“Winning the NRA award for me was the most satisfying as it was open to retailers, from all markets, all over Australia.
“I take enormous pride in these businesses and try to instil the same amount of enthusiasm in my 60+ staff. I use this NRA title as a way of reminding staff the incredible hard work that they put in to making Nextra Chermside what it is, doesn’t go unrecognised.”
