Exclusive Industry Q&A and discussion on textiles with Seamless
We are pleased to invite you to an exclusive National Retail Industry Q&A and discussion with Danielle Kent – Project Director of the National Clothing Stewardship Scheme, Seamless on Wednesday, 12 June AEST between 10:00am and 11:30am (10:00am AEST, 8:00am WST).
Danielle will provide an update and answer any industry questions on the National Clothing Product Stewardship Scheme, Seamless – an initiative aiming to improve the reuse and recycling of textiles, providing a roadmap to 2030 for greater clothing circularity in Australia.
In 2021, clothing textiles were placed on the Federal Minister’s Priority List for Product Stewardship, with industry required to take action to reduce clothing sent to landfill.
The Australian Government funded the Consortium, led by the Australian Fashion Council, to develop a product stewardship scheme that considers action across the entire value chain, from clothing design to use, reuse, collection, and recycling.
The scheme was to be designed by 2023 with the view that “Manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers should reduce the environmental impacts of clothing across the lifecycle including through product design improvements related to durability, repairability, re-usability and/or recyclability of clothing” by 2025.
Seamless aims to have 60% of industry sign up to divert 120,000 tonnes of end-of-life clothing from landfill by 2027.
This event is an exclusive forum designed to facilitate open dialogue between industry and Seamless, and to provide key updates on initiatives undertaken by Seamless members.
This event is free, and we encourage industry representatives and businesses to attend. To confirm, the details are:
