On the 13/09/16 the NRA Training Division commenced a Ready for Retail program at Broadbeach Surf Lifesaving Club on the Gold Coast, with ocean views and daily visits from passing dolphins and whales.
The NRA has once again partnered with Coles to give a group of students with disabilities, real life experience and enhanced opportunities at ongoing job placement. The students for this program have been referred by local Disability Employment Services such as Help Enterprises, Nortec and Gold Coast Employment Services. These organisations have been a sensational support network for the participants as they help in providing assistance with transportation, uniforms and the occasional BBQ lunch.
The program will be delivered over a seven week period with the participants alternating between face to face training in a classroom setting and on the job training with work experience placement in a Coles store. We are currently into our third week and the feedback to this point has been very encouraging. One of the participants suffers from anxiety and before they began our course, was very hesitant to speak when confronting someone new. However with the support of our NRA Trainer, his new team mates and his support network we have seen this participant blossom into a more confident person that is able to communicate within a team environment and perform works tasks to the expected standards.
We look forward to receiving more feedback regarding our participants as they are supported through their journey into the workforce. If you are interested in developing a customised, induction program for your organisation, please contact our Director of Training, Yvonne Williams.
