Not one to be outdone by Apple, technology giant Google has launched Android Pay in Australia.
Google’s contactless smartphone payment system is similar to the Apple Pay system released in Australia eight months ago.
Using the same basic technology and similar security as Apple, Google’s Android Pay stands out as the more inclusive payment system as older devices will be able to use the technology.
Customers simply register their cards on their devices to use their mobile wallets like they would when using Pay Pass for credit and debit cards using NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology.
From a retailers perspective there is no distinguishable difference between the two systems. As consumers adopt these new technologies it’s imperative to keep your payment functionalities up to date to avoid frustrations and customer disappointment.
