Last Thursday 27 July the National Retail Association had the privilege to join the Retail Doctor Group for their 24th State of the Nation event, providing a wonderful platform to engage with retailers, gather valuable feedback, and gain insights into the sector’s pressing issues.
Amidst a busy week for our team, I had the privilege of engaging in interesting discussions with both Channel Nine News, where we delved into the merger between Kmart and Target, and ABC Radio Brisbane where we explored the dynamic retail landscape. For those interested, the video interview is available for viewing here, while the ABC Brisbane segment can be listened to right here.
Retail crime and individual aggression have become paramount concerns for business owners, prompting us to engage with stakeholders and work together to address these challenges head-on. I encourage all business owners to instantly report any incidents, and if you wish to share your valuable insights or feedback, please feel free to reach out to our team here.
Mark your calendars for August 9 as the National Retail Association’s Training team is hosting an insightful three-hour, public workshop on dealing with aggressive customers. This popular training is in high demand, and I encourage you and your teams to secure your spots by contacting our team here. The sessions have had incredibly positive feedback and we want to ensure that all businesses and staff feel safe and mitigate risk in the workplace.
Additionally, the NRA Legal team is conducting a critical training course focused on performance management, designed specifically for retail leaders. This course aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of the key principles and best practices for effective performance management. If you’re interested, you can sign up for the session scheduled on Thursday, 31 August by registering here.
If you have the privilege of collaborating with a hard-working HR leader, I encourage you to put forward their name for consideration in the prestigious HR Professional of the Year award at this year’s National Retail Awards. To enter the HR Professional category, applicants need to answer just three questions, demonstrating how the nominee excels in leadership, contributes to business growth, attracts the right talent, and fosters a happy and harmonious workplace culture. Nominations must be submitted before August 31 and you can submit your nomination here. We look forward to hearing their stories.
Have a great week ahead.
