The Queensland Government will open the next round of its Business Basics grants on Wednesday 4 May, with guidelines now open so that businesses can start preparing their applications.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Di Farmer said this would be the third round for Business Basics, which is one of the grants programs delivered under the Big Plans for Small Business Strategy.
“Business Basics offers grants of $5000 to assist new and emerging businesses to improve their day-to-day operations by upgrading their core skills or adopting best practices,” Minister Farmer said.
“There is $5 million in total available through this round and we are dedicating $1.5 million of that to assist businesses from regional Queensland, because they are the heartbeat of regional communities.”

· fewer than 20 employees; · operating and ABN; · registered for GST; · based in Queensland; · expected turnover of $300,000 or less (current financial year); · not previously approved under an earlier round of Business Basics; · owners/directors that are not undischarged bankrupt; and be solvent. |
| Purpose | Applicants can apply for funding for grant-funded activities in one of five priorities:
1. Training and coaching (Business development, marketing, human resources, or business planning topics) 2. Website build/upgrades (Website build or upgrade, adding eCommerce) 3. Professional business advice 4. Strategic marketing services (Strategic marketing plans including search engine optimisation advice) 5. Business continuity and succession (Business continuity or succession plans, Cybersafety training and tools) |
| Important | Competitive – applications are competitively assessed against the assessment criteria and not all applications will be funded.
DESBT will not fund activities with: · a total cost of less than $5,000 (excluding GST); · payments made on any activity undertaken before Grant approval |
