The National Retail Association has welcomed the Queensland Government’s commitment to prioritise the mental wellbeing of small businesses operators through a state-wide $8.76 million Small Business Wellness Package.
This package is a part of the Queensland Government’s $14.5 billion economic recovery plan aimed at keeping businesses open.
The much-needed initiative will give small business owners the opportunity to step back and recalibrate given that they have spent much of the year trying to keep their heads above water.
The package includes a $3 million Small Business Support Service Fund to assist with alleviating stress for small business owners. Giving small business owners the tools they need to move from a mentality of survival to growth will empower them to further build out their businesses.
Being able to reach out to wellbeing coaches is an invaluable resource that will increase business confidence which will in turn increase consumer confidence within their respective communities.
This has no doubt been a very difficult year for small businesses with increasing energy prices, supply chain issues, and labour shortages. But they remain a driving force within the Queensland economy.
The NRA encourages small business owners to take advantage of this initiative and start prioritising their mental health. It is something that we very often neglect but something as simple as taking care of your mental health could actually be the turnaround your business needs.
