As of 1am, Wednesday 23 December 2020, all Queensland hospitality venues must have QR codes or electronic devices to record patrons’ attendance.
Manual registers will no longer be allowed as all registration of patrons must be electronic moving forward.
Electronic capture options include:
- QR code-accessed online forms
- Club membership visitation data
- Online registration
- Spreadsheets.
For each patron, this electronic information must include:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Email address (residential address if unavailable)
- Date and time period of patronage.
This information is still required to be held for a period of a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 56 days.
The change to electronic registration comes in response to growing cases in New South Wales and aims to address the current issues with manual registers such as incomplete details or illegible handwriting.
The Queensland Government has stressed the importance of Queensland businesses remaining vigilant and not letting up their measures against the virus over the Christmas period.
Being unable to contact all patrons after a venue is declared a hotspot limits the effectiveness of contact tracing and leaves Queenslanders vulnerable.
It is critical that all venues implement an electronic system immediately and continue to ensure that all information is recorded before customers are served.
