7 Eleven

The Fair Work Ombudsman has handed down a record fine of over $200,000 to the owner of a Sydney 7-Eleven after they found he had short-changed two migrant employees and falsified records.

The penalties were the largest delivered as a warning to others who may be tempted or engaging in similar conduct.

In late 2015 the Fair Work Ombudsman, made a decision to commence legal action against the 7-Eleven retail store because of the seriousness of the alleged breaches and the involvement of vulnerable migrant employees.

Since then, the Fair Work Ombudsman as announced legal action against three more 7 Eleven operators in Brisbane who have allegedly underpaid their staff thousands of dollars.
