Findlay Hats is the brain child of Photographer turned Entrepreneur, Jimmy Findlay. They are a hat that every adventurer, outdoorsy person would and should want to own due to its practicality.
It was after rafting down Toutle River and losing his beloved hat that Findlay decided to make his first Findlay Hat prototype – a fashionable hat which stays on your head. Three years on, since the launch of his business, and Findlay has carved out a niche market – The Sun-Smart Outdoorsy/ Adventurer.
The real turning point for Findlay Hats came about on an overseas trip when Findlay (an adventuring, outdoorsy person himself) saw a gentleman walking down the street in Rome, wearing one of his least popular hats. After ordering the bus driver to stop the bus (of which he was aboard of at the time of sighting), running down the street and introducing himself to the gentleman, Findlay wrote a story on the chance encounter and uploaded it to Reddit.
Almost immediately the Borrowed Reddit post went viral, as did Findlay Hats’ sales. In less than 24 hours of the story being published, Findlay Hats had turned over $28,000 in hat sales.
